The universe is an achingly beautiful and diverse place. We, stuck floating in a roughly circular pattern around a pretty ordinary star in an ordinary, boring neighborhood of the Milky Way galaxy, don’t get very much a view of much of this wonder and beauty. That hasn’t stopped us from dreaming, though. Using the best evidence and observations available, a small army of artists, designers, and programmers publish imagery every day to give us the best (only?) look we may ever get at the sights of the universe. From quasars, black holes, and neutron stars to planets, comets, and asteroids, Sketched Universe exists as an attempt to collect and celebrate images of all that is beautiful in the universe.
